For men, hair loss starts at the front hairline and the crown. They
may experience complete or partial baldness.
For women, hair thinning begins at the front, side or top of the
head. It often begins at the midline and gradually the area will
enlarge. However, they seldom experience complete baldness.
When to consult a doctor?
It is advisable to consult a doctor if the hair loss is sudden and
an appreciable amount is lost each time. The condition may indicate
certain illnesses, such as low thyroid activity or hormonal
imbalance. Besides, some women may have hair loss during or after
pregnancy or when they suddenly stop taking birth control pills.
